Financing Options
We know there are plenty of home- and business-owners who, despite interest in renewable energy, are worried about the cost involved. Luckily, there are plenty of financing options, as well as federal and statewide programs available to those who’d like to convert their properties to a more sustainable form of power.
UTILITY SOLAR INCENTIVES
The net metering system allows solar customers to use their grid-tied system as a battery, using energy credits in the winter and selling the excess energy back to the power company in the summer months. To learn more, take a look at our FAQ page!
FINANCING
We are proud to partner with the Puget Sound Cooperative Credit Union to provide low-interest loans for homes and businesses that are interested in converting to solar energy. Sun’s Eye customers also receive a special reduced interest rate from PSCCU! Another local lender we work closely with is Verity Credit Union.
REAP
The Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) is a federal program designed to help small businesses convert to renewable energy. As a business owner, you are eligible for grants that fund 25% of a solar or other renewable energy installation, and loans that fund up to 75% of the installation.
In addition to solar systems, REAP can also help fund the following renewable energy projects:
-
Energy efficiency lighting
-
Upgraded refrigeration systems
-
Improvements to facility insulation, duct work, and windows.
-
Heating and cooling equipment upgrades; programmable thermostats, new HVAC units
