Solar Project Process

From design and permitting to installation and activation. We help our customers every step of the way.

  • 1. Contracting & Design

Every project starts with a meeting to discuss goals, feasability and approach. We define the scope of your project and produce a detailed proposal that outlines expected utility savings over 25 years, tax incentives and full installation price. The proposal includes digital images of your property with the proposed footprint of your solar array. We design our systems to best capitalize on hours of potential sunlight and home aesthetics. Once the proposal/contract is signed, the work begins.

  • 2. Permitting & Approvals

Once the design and price are agreed upon, we work on your behalf to navigate state and municipal requirements and utility paperwork. The permitting process takes 2-4 weeks on average to complete, but it can take longer depending on time of year and municipal capacity.

  • 3. Installation

Once all permits and approvals are in place, Sun's Eye works with you to find an installation date that fits your schedule. We coordinate the delivery of materials prior to installation. Our knowledgeable crew typically performs an installation in 1-2 days, depending on scale.

  • 4. Inspection

Inspections are required to ensure that your solar system meets safety regulations and zoning laws, as well as the electrical, building, and fire codes in your area. While some jurisdictions may call for an inspection during the installation, all jurisdictions require a final inspection before you power on your system and start saving on your energy costs.

  • 5. Permission

After your installation is complete and has passed final inspections, we will apply for “Permission to Operate” (PTO) from your electricity provider. A representative from your local utility company will visit your home to install a new bi-directional energy meter capable of tracking both the energy you produce and the energy you use for net metering.

  • 6. Activation

It's time to activate your solar power system and begin producing electricity! We begin by flipping the "PV Solar Breaker" switch located in your electric panel, followed by turning on the AC disconnect, and then activating the solar inverter. This simple process only requires a few minutes and is something we like to walk through with our customers to ensure that they understand how the system is activated and disabled.

  • 7. Warranty & Support Services

Our office handles all warranty and monitoring issues you may encounter. Along with product warranties that typically are 25 years from the time of installation.
