What is PSE Flex?
PSE Flex is Puget Sound Energy's demand response program that rewards homeowners for helping balance the electrical grid. When you install a qualifying battery system and enroll in PSE Flex, you receive:

How It Works
- Install a Qualifying Battery System - We install Tesla Powerwall, Enphase IQ, or Franklin batteries - all qualify for PSE Flex.
- Enroll in PSE Flex - We handle the enrollment paperwork. You receive your $1,000 bonus within weeks of activation.
- Participate in Flex Events - A few times per year, PSE may call on your battery to support the grid during high-demand periods. Your battery automatically responds, and you earn $0.50 for every kWh contributed.
- Enjoy Backup Power Year-Round - Outside of Flex events, your battery provides backup power during outages and helps you maximize your solar investment.

No, you can install battery storage without solar panels. However, pairing batteries with solar maximizes your investment by storing excess solar energy for later use.
How often do Flex events occur?
Flex events typically occur a few times per year during periods of high grid demand, usually on very hot or very cold days. Events are usually 2-4 hours long, and your battery automatically participates.
Will I still have backup power during a Flex event?
Yes. PSE ensures your battery maintains a reserve for emergency backup even during Flex events. You're never left without protection.
